Virtual Reality Tech
The definition of virtual reality can be gotten by merging the meanings of the words 'virtual' and 'reality'. Virtual can be defined as an imitation or simulation and reality is basically our experience as human beings or a real entity. So the term 'virtual reality' simply means 'an imitation of a real entity' or 'a simulation of a real entity'.
This could mean anything but it usually refers to a particular type of reality emulation.
The term "Virtual Reality" was coined by Jaron Lanier in 1987 during a period of intense research into this form of technology.
In technical terms, virtual reality is the term used to describe a 3-dimensional, computer generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. The user becomes a part of this 'virtual world' and is able to perform a series of actions.
Virtual reality is currently implemented using computer technology. There are a range of systems that are used for this purpose, such as headsets, omni-directional treadmills and special gloves.
Virtual reality seems like a lot of work, and it definitely is! Since we know it is quite stressful in the construction, what makes the development VR (Virtual Reality) tech worthwhile?
It has a very potent entertainment value as seen in films and video games.
Virtual reality has many other official applications as well.
Virtual reality can be applied in -
- Medicine
- Entertainments
- Art
- Sports
- Architecture etc.
Wherever it is quite dangerous, expensive or impractical, virtual reality is the answer.
Virtual reality has many effects on us and one of them is motion sickness. People suffer from nausea after spending a period of time in the virtual environment which is due to the effects the shift perception has on balance.
Another name for this sensation is "cybersickness".
Hopefully, there will be greater advancements in the virtual reality tech in 2018.
